Course Aim

To gain a basic understanding of AutoCAD

All those who come into contact with AutoCAD drawings on a regular basis.

Course Content

  • An Introduction to AutoCAD – 2 Day Course: Learn the essential skills of using AutoCAD. By the end of this course students will be able to create, manipulate and plot AutoCAD drawings.
  • The Fundamentals: Understanding the AutoCAD environment; Create, open, save and close a new drawing; Open, close, edit and save an existing drawing
  • Working with Drawings: Basic Commands – Line, Arc, Circle, etc; Object snapping; Shortcut keyboard entry commands; Selecting groups of objects.
  • Editing a Drawing: Edit commands – Erase, Copy, Move, Mirror, Array, Rotate, Scale, Stretch, Fillet, Chamfer, Trim, Break, Offset, Zoom, Dim, Divide.
  • Controlling Drawings: Using layers; Adding dimensions; Adding text; Understanding viewports.
  • Plotting: Selecting a plotter/printer; plotting a drawing; plotting a drawing to PDF format.
